Loving all these beautiful photos of different shades and patterns of blue. I was inspired to make this post when I saw Parker Fitzgeralds 'Lauren in the River' on Studded Hearts. I fell in love with the photo and decided I was lovin all sorts of blue photos at the moment. Coincidently my blog currently has a bit of a blue theme running through.

In year 9 we had to write a speech on one of a few topics - I chose 'Travel Broadens the mind' I remember starting my speech saying 'Travel broadens the mind, then going to to say well I have no specific evidence of this as I have never travelled.' At that moment the whole class laughed, and afterwards the teacher said to me she liked my use of humor. The whole time I wrote and presented the speech I didn't intend for it to be humorous, I was just expressing how I felt about the importance of Travelling.

Then at 14 I knew I wanted to travel, now at 19 me and my twin sister are embarking on our first overseas adventure without parents.
I'm slightly petrified, but mostly excited. I don't know what to expect but I've learnt the lower the expectations the more amazing the experience because nothing disappoints you.

If like me you want to travel here are a few tips I'll give you to get there... again not that I have much personal experience.

* If you want to go somewhere do it! We had being planning this trip for a few months, flipping through travel brochures but time was getting away. One night I was babysitting and my sister just texted me saying 'I booked our flights we are going for 4 weeks.' After that there is not going back and you force yourself to plan and make the trip happen.
* Get a summer job, I got mine off Gumtree, just work, save, keep in mind how amazing its going to be once your travelling. That will get you through when you question why you are working on a 33degree day that you should be at the beach.
* Set yourself saving goals - I have been putting my tips from waitressing in a jar for the last 6months. I finally saved my enough money to buy my own Canon 700D Digital SLR Camera. Speaking this time from experience there is nothing more satisfying that saving up and buying yourself something amazing.

Here are some snapshots of my life over the last month, predominately the last couple of weeks,  since I finished my first year of University.
Summer has just arrived - the days are getting warmer, the nights longer and I can't wait to see what the next few months has in stall for me.

BITS & BOBS
1. My sister in a stairwell in a small shop in Lura Blue Mountains on our weekend away
2. Mirror Selfie - the light in the mirror reminded me of the Moon and Sun in the house we stayed in, in Katomba
3. Window reflections on my kitchen floor
4. Sneeky photo of the clouds in the late afternoon out the back of my work
5. Magazine, Sunglasses, Cap & Water - relaxing on the Beach
6. San Cisco @ the Metro Theatre
I love taking photos of different types of cool lighting as you may have noticed in these photos

FOOD
7. Breakfast - Tea & Pikelets with jam, cream and berries
8. Banana, Mango & Raspberry Smoothie
9. Picnic - Continents of our salad sandwiches
10. Breakfast - Tea, Avocado on toast & fruit
One of my favour things to do as the weather gets warmer, or in fact in any weather is to make yummy meals (mostly breakfast) and eat them in the sunshine, while drinking tea or a smoothie, reading a magazine and listening to music.

BITS & BOBS CONTINUED...
11. Picnic on the Plateau
12. View from our picnic
13. Denim dress & a Rainbow Hat - perfect picnic attire if I do say so myself
14. Beautiful bags and purses at Newport Markets
Exploring, having picnics in stunning locations and going to markets are things I love to do all year round especially during the holidays.

Let me know what you've being up to over the last couple of weeks & what your favourite holiday activities are.

Khailah Palace Skirt

Khailah Palace Skirt

My sister Rachael salt-style just finished her first year of a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles.
For one of her final projects she designed a range inspired by the Khailah Palace in Yemen. Then made one of her skirt designs.
I photographed our other sister Grace wearing the Khailah Palace Skirt by the beach and on our roof as the sun rose on Tuesday morning.
P.S. For more photos from the shoot check out my tumblr
P.S.S. Keep an eye on Rachael's Blogspot salt-style for more details on the project. Plus check out some of her other designs, projects and inspiration.

Flowers are beautiful, then they die and they are still beautiful

Dying Flowers in my Journal

It's the first day of Spring so a flower post seemed relevant.

SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS

Splendour in the Grass 2014

Highway Driving

Byron Bay Beach

Wategos

Ball Park Music

THE 1975

Splendour in the Grass.... Where can I start!
After staying with a friend in Lismore, and day tripping to Byron Bay Sarah, Rach and myself set off to North Byron Parklands on Wednesday 23rd of July.
Around 5pm we met up with our fellow campers and our convoy of 3 cars joined the line driving down the lantern lined, dirt track towards the festival. Setting up a tent is hard enough, let alone in the dark but we managed and got on to cooking dinner (if you excuse nearly blowing up our stove).

The perks of camping at the festival started to show on Thursday when we had a day to explore the markets and festival grounds before the fun really began.

Friday was the first day of the festival and we kicked off the day with the DMA’s, followed by The Preatures and The Kite String Tangle. When you’re listening to Ball Park Music at the amphitheatre as the sun sets you know you’re in for a good night. Asgeir, the Hoodoo Gurus and Childish Gambino prepared us for Friday nights headliner act Outkast - Let me here you say “Hey Ya…. Hey Ya.” Outkast had us so pumped that we went to the Global Village Drank Coconut Chai and danced till 1 in the morning, then found a garden filled with floating hammocks, so jumped the fence and hung out there until it got to cold to sit in summer clothes in winter weather in the early hours of the morning.

Saturday morning was spent sticking jewels on and painting our faces before heading into the festival to catch the second half of Cicra Waves (only regret not seeing the first ½ of the set). Sticky Fingers was up next followed by The 1975 – they were amazing, I have been having a obsession with The 1975 since. We went to Art vs Science which was also incredible, the vibe during ‘Parlez-vous Francais was something else! We saw The Jezabels that night, it was the only time it rained the whole weekend, and the lead singer Hayley Mary was so emotional and appreciative because they grew up about 20 minutes from Byron. She crowd surfed and their music was awesome. We also saw Foals and Rufus before heading back to the Global Village, where my sister and I spotted Sean Keenan.

We painted and bejewelled our faces once again on Sunday morning and headed to Broods, followed by Jungle. We danced like crazy people at Buraka Som Sistema, which was so much fun. That night we saw Grouplove as the sunset, and Chvrches, both were incredible. We ended the night with Nina Las Vegas, Foster the People and Ben Howard.

We packed up on Monday morning and headed off after jumpstarting one of our cars (what’s a road trip without at least one flat battery?) Making a few food stops along the way it wasn’t until we were nearly back in Sydney that it hit me the awesome adventure was coming to an end. I cannot wait for my next festival experience!

Tuula 2013 Video Diary

Tuula 2013 Video Diary

I highly suggest you watch Jessica Stein (Tuula Vintage - tuulavintage) 2013 Video Diary ^.
My sister showed me her blog in 2011 and I have been checking it regularly for the last few years.
Her style is awesome, I especially love her outfits from a couple of years ago.
She travels to the most amazing places and after watching this video I am tempted to buy a plane ticket to anywhere in the world and explore.
